What Are You Investing In?
Investing in yourself is a major theme I encourage my young readers to prioritise so they can be dynamic and effective in adapting to the significant changes they will experience along the arc of their lives.
But how do you choose what to invest in? In a given season, should one be improving their skills, changing environments, growing their network or their net worth, prioritising their health or something else altogether? A thriving personal portfolio requires us to develop the self awareness to understand our internal needs alongside sharpening our perspective of how the world works so we can build the lives we want.
I pick a few dominant themes to sustain me over a 2 to 5-year cycle and thereafter, I rotate to the next growth zones in need of attention. Currently, one of the major themes I am investing in is building communities. Everything worthwhile requires like-minded people working together effect change. It’s not an obvious choice when the rate of technological innovation implies regular upskilling should be the way to go but this choice feels right for my journey. What are you investing in to advance what matters to you?
I enjoyed my segment on Cape Talk Radio this week where we discussed a few aspects of how we can prepare ourselves for this big adventure of life, being mindful it is never too late to reset the path you’re on to navigate towards the success you desire.
